About the
conference.

IARC was conceived as a counterpart to the Asia-Pacific Actuarial Teaching Conference, building on conversations begun at ATC Bangkok in December 2022 between the late Prof. Tan Ken Seng, the Head of the Actuarial Science Division of IndoMS, and faculty members of Universitas Gadjah Mada.

The inaugural edition convened in Yogyakarta in July 2023, hosted by the Actuarial Science Division of the Indonesian Mathematical Society (IndoMS) alongside the 9th SEAMS–UGM International Conference on Mathematics and Its Applications.

The second edition, in Bandung, is convened by Masyarakat Ilmu Aktuaria Indonesia (MIAKTI) — the Indonesian Society of Actuarial Science — in continued collaboration with IndoMS. Founded on 14 July 2024, MIAKTI holds its first Congress during IARC 2026, on 6 August. Together, the two bodies steward IARC as a recurring forum for actuarial scholarship in Indonesia and the wider Asia-Pacific.

The inaugural conference was held in great honour of the late Prof. Tan Ken Seng, Chief Actuarial Advisor of the READI Project, whose mentorship of Indonesian actuarial scholarship over many years made this series possible. In memoriam, 1 January 2023.
