IARC was conceived as a counterpart to the Asia-Pacific Actuarial Teaching Conference, building on conversations begun at ATC Bangkok in December 2022 between the late Prof. Tan Ken Seng, the Head of the Actuarial Science Division of IndoMS, and faculty members of Universitas Gadjah Mada.
The inaugural edition convened in Yogyakarta in July 2023, hosted by the Actuarial Science Division of the Indonesian Mathematical Society (IndoMS) alongside the 9th SEAMS–UGM International Conference on Mathematics and Its Applications.
The second edition, in Bandung, is convened by Masyarakat Ilmu Aktuaria Indonesia (MIAKTI) — the Indonesian Society of Actuarial Science — in continued collaboration with IndoMS. Together, the two bodies steward IARC as a recurring forum for actuarial scholarship in Indonesia and the wider Asia-Pacific.
